Story + Level Editor Update

* About

  • Theres too much stuff to list, but to sum it up:
    • Level Editor:
      • Its now possible to use “events” to create janky narrative experiences (visual novels, puzzles, etc).
    • Short Campaign:
      • created with the new in-game level editor features.
  • What took so long?
    • A lot of ideas were attempted. and most were scrapped…
    • At first there was going to be a “gamemode” but instead of doing that… the campaign ended up being assembled completely with the in-game level editor.
    • This means that the game needed features such as: [Read Level editing tool section bellow]


* Gameplay Updates

  • New player movement
    • This new player controller is more blanced for maps. But still maintains the ability for parkour. (bunny hopping/strafing)
  • Cursor: Clickable notification


* Level Editing Tools

  • Event gun
    • Lets you create events with almost all in-game entities. Such as: Triggers, Audiosource
  • New Entities
    • Triggers
    • Audiosources
    • Prefab
    • Data Holders: String, Integer, Date
    • Dialogue
    • Dialogue Choice
    • Animation Paths
    • Realtime Lights
  • Updated Entities
    • Posters: new features
    • Harddrive gun: xray mode
    • Glue gun: better particles
  • Visiblity View-Mode
    • Lets you see your map more clearly
  • Zip file support
    • Supports encryption (mostly for fun).
    • When a player attempts to open an encrypted map in-game, a password fields opens up.
  • Project Feature
    • For those who want to create “projects” with multiple maps linked together + persistant save data.
  • Persistant/Global variables:
    • When you use the “global variables” in a project, they are automatically saved on the player’s PC. This allows you to let players mainting a save file.
  • Plus More!


* New Cringe Campaign

  • Part 1 of ??? of the campaign has been completed.
    • This includes the prologue and first two chapters.


* Whats next

  • Priorty:
    • Quality of life Update
    • Updated campaign maps (i did zero play-testing so we will see what needs fixing lol)
    • VR update
  • Less important for now:
    • Campaign part 2
    • Random map feature: this was taken out for now because i dont know where it would have fit into the campaign. This will return in the form of events and be patched in later.

* Important: (For older maps and map creators)

  • Custom materials are gone.
    • The new way is to use Posters + Painter tool. I know the older way let you manage all the textures more efficiently. That is a problem that will be tackled in the “Quality of life” update planned.
  • For safety reasons, URLs are now disabled by default. Players will need to manually allow urls in the config settings.
    • Although… you might not want to use urls ever again with the new ZIP support.
  • Opening an older map might not produce the exact same experience on that map anymore.
    • I tried my best to preserve older maps. If you think older maps are ruined let me know what i can do.
  • Opening an older map in edit mode:
    • When you open an older map in edit mode the game will create a poster at the world origin… for each “custom material” the older map had.
